About Us
We are experienced professionals in the Australian Solar Industry. We are concerned about the wasteful practices that have developed within the industry, and we wish to facilitate systemic countermeasures to improve the situation. Rather than disrupting the mainstream, we are focusing on solutions related to the solar aftermarket, which is estimated to represent $168 Billion in economic value for the next 20 years .
Issues to Address:
- Superseded solar stock – panels, inverters and batteries stranded with Wholesalers
- Decommissioned solar stock discarded or left for recycling despite being functional
- Lack of sustainability and a “Circular Economy” approach in the community with regard to products of the Solar industry
- Lack of contact and collaboration between individuals who share our concerns
Proposed Solutions We Are Working On:
- Making the available superseded stock visible to buyers outside the Solar Rebate mainstream. Not all solar stock dropped from the CEC list are sub-standard. Some perfectly good brand new stock is “superseded” due to registration fees not being maintained.
- Facilitating access of interested parties to decommissioned stock and enabling timely contact between them and decommissioners.
- Encouraging creativity in design of solutions , such as:
- Evaluating and imitating what people are doing around the world
- Implementing design competitions for creative solutions
- Participating in Forums, where new ideas can flourish
- Within the Community that we are building, we envisage establishing:
- A nation-wide team of Solar Decommissioners, comprising of Installers experienced in the Solar industry, who would be called upon when decommissioning work comes up in their vicinity.
- A nation-wide team of individuals wishing to participate in work, such as assisting in the decommissioning process and the transportation of stock.
- A selection of Solar Wholesalers, wishing to offer superseded stock on The Market for interested buyers and facilitating timely communication via notification.
“A fully circular solar industry has the potential to generate significant economic benefits, jobs, whilst reducing supply chain risks.”
